The brake's sold by Chris look nice, and one can hope that he'll offer authentic Krink brake's for the 7.62 SBR's, as K-Var isn't going to be selling these anymore either. Whether or not that hold's true is anyone's guess. Or perhaps I'll be able to order one directly from ARSENAL, as they said I could later on. Otherwise, I may be stuck for a while waiting on a pre-owned ARSENAL brake to show up on one of the for sale boards. I ordered mine through AIM since they got the best deal around right now, and I know they are trying to get some for their current inventory from ARSENAL. They don't look bad IMO, and really improve's the current look of the 107CR's.
#ARSENAL AK MUZZLE BRAKE INSTALL#
The only good option for an easy install would be the flash hider Krink brake as offered through ARSENAL. That may be OKAY for some, but I would rather have some flash hiding capabilities. The brake's offered through Chris was something that came out during the ban years, and is ATF approved as a muzzle brake, and not a flash hider. Hopefully, some word from either enitity will surface within the next few day's. It's not right IMO that ARSENAL is restricting these only for the new gun's from RSR! Actually, I would still buy from K-Var for extra's. I WOULD STILL SUGGEST THAT THOSE WHO WANT THEM BOMBARD K-VAR'S PHONE LINE'S!! Giving a call to ARSENAL wouldn't hurt either!Įven though I'm buying my 107CR from RSR, many already have purchased one, and don't exactly know what to do with their barrel's.
#ARSENAL AK MUZZLE BRAKE UPDATE#
I'll update this thread when more information become's available.

I was told that they (K-Var) will more than likely NOT be stocking these brake's, as ARSENAL produced these for a limited edition 107CR for RSR ONLY! I can't believe it! I'm waiting on a call back from ARSENAL to find out if they will be releasing these brake's for sale through K-Var, or the option of those who already own the CR model's to obtain one. Some people don't do this and wind up with an attachment they can't get off at all.I talked with K-Var this morning. Soak it per the jar directions, then liberally brush the threads on the attachment AND the barrel with a brass toothbrush to remove fouling.Īn AK attachment can and will literally solder itself on from fouling build up unless you remove it fairly often and clean it and the threads out. Once you get the attachment off, clean it out thoroughly with a carbon removal chemical like Slip 2000 Carbon Killer.

Give it 24 hours to penetrate before trying the strap wrench or a rod as a handle. I'd get a good penetrating fluid like Kroil and liberally soak the joint. You do see this stupidity by people who think AK muzzle attachments should not have any wobble, not understanding that after you fire a couple of rounds the fouling removes any looseness. Heat should not be needed and Loctite won't be in it unless you bought the rifle used and some fool used it. You don't want to bend or distort the brake. If you just can't wait to ask Arsenal, use a strap wrench or put a rod through the brake and use some force. With that said, these have left-hand threads and is removable so it should come off. They built it, they know what's what, and you don't want to damage something. My FIRST move would be to contact Arsenal and ask them about this. The muzzle attachment is listed as removable. I don't see a SAM7R-61, but there is a -51 on the Arsenal site.
